Pawleys Island: Hammock

An Original Pawleys Island Decade Sand Large Quilted Hammock is two layers of industry-leading all-weather, solution-dyed synthetic fabric.

The top is Sunbrella in the Decade Sand colors, while the bottom and side-binding are DuraCord in a solid neutral color — lockstitched over a 1-inch center of plush, resilient, nonabsorbent polyester fiberfill batting to create 18 individual pillowy cushions running the length of the hammock bed.

Both fabrics are not only fast-drying, but also are resistant to rot, mold, mildew and staining, in addition to being exceptionally colorfast and with a softness on par with cotton.

Hammock spreader bars are solid Southern white oak that’s been hand-dipped multiple times in marine-quality spar varnish, to heighten the handsome hardwood’s natural honey-gold hue.

The ropes attaching the hanging hardware to the hammock bed are likewise made from weather-tough, cottony-soft DuraCord; we precision-wind all of our own rope ourselves, to exceed even the U.S. military’s exacting specifications for strength.

Hanging hardware, including chains, is zinc-plated steel, for a further boost in strength, and for heightened rust protection.
